EARTHTEK Grading & Paving recently completed an exciting project installing over ten electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at an office building in San Jose, CA. With California's increased adoption of EVs, many properties are looking to add EV charging capabilities. As a full-service concrete, paving and grading company, EARTHTEK can handle these installations from start to finish.

For this particular project, our work included:

We started by demolishing parts of the existing parking lot to make room for the new installations. The process included trenching several hundred feet to extend the electrical supply from the building to the charging stations and rerouting irrigation main lines.

Critical attention was given to concrete work to meet building codes and ADA standards. New concrete pads were installed for the charging station. Additionally, we installed new concrete curbing. Finally, we modified existing accessible parking spaces to bring them up to current ADA regulations.

After the EV charging stations were installed, parts of the parking lot needed the asphalt patched where trenching had been done. We repaved the parking lot in some areas because of the extensive underground work done.

We applied sealcoating to the remainder of the parking lot because it was due for maintenance. The project was finalized with precise parking lot striping, including designations for the new EV parking spaces.

The project went smoothly thanks to our experienced crews and meticulous planning. We were able to complete the job on schedule and within budget while minimizing disruption to the office building's operations. The client was very pleased with the new charging stations, which will serve their employees and visitors well into the future.
